The Challenge is Closed
16-Sept-07: The Challenge is officially closed. I would like to give special recognition to Steve Roesler at All Things Workplace for both the quantity and quality of the posts he produced; six in all. I am amazed by his ability to consistently produce high-quality posts. His final post in his weeklong series answering the "Does Most Leadership Suck, Including Yours...“ challenge, is our final entry.
While it has been a challenge for me to keep up with all of the e-mail and comments this question generated, the conversations have been invaluable in helping me better understand how real people view leadership. You can expect to see much of what you have taught me in my ChangeThis Manifesto.
Take care all...

This is an impressive list of contributors. Will you be producing any type of analysis from all of this?
Fantastic challenge John. Sorry to have missed the boat on this one!

For you, a personal challenge.
If you write a post on your Blog defining leadership without regurgitating any conventional wisdom, i.e. Leaders vs. Managers; WWJD - What Would Jack Welch Do; 10 qualities, etc... Then get three people to post a thoughtful comment about your definition, I will append your posting to the Challenge List.
Are you up for the challenge?
Take care...

This was a great challange and you had good participation. Looking forward to reading all of the entries. Thanks again for including me!
I just discovered, as I was preparing to write my response today, that you had decided to close the item. One reason for that was that I was waiting for Steve to finish his series.
Sorry to have missed a chance to address a piece about this specifically to your challenge. However, you have assembled a nice list of contributors; I will enjoy reviewing their answers.
Thanks again for putting this one out there!

Thanks for the complement.
I plan to use the inputs to this challenge as part of my Change This Manifesto. I'm also considering a larger piece, perhaps an e-book with a more in depth analysis.
Take care...

Thank you for the kind words. I really enjoyed working this challenge and am currently fleshing out a few ideas for future challenges. I'll be sure to tag you for another insightful post.

I’m always looking for great leadership posts. Just because the challenge is over doesn’t mean you can’t write a post. You have some great posts on your Blog and I would love to see what your answer to the leadership challenge.
Take care...
